Brooke VanBuren-Hay, PHD, JD

Dr. VanBuren-Hay completed her graduate training in Counseling Psychology at Michigan State University. She has worked for DeVos Children’s Hospital and CEI Community Mental Health. Dr. VanBuren-Hay has lectured extensively on a wide variety of topics including: mood disorder, traumatic brain injury, and neuropsychological evaluations. She has also obtained her Juris Doctorate from Cooley Law School. Currently, she provides psychological and neuropsychological evaluations for children, adolescents, and adults. In addition, Dr. VanBuren-Hay is a consultant to Sparrow Hospital and assists in providing neuropsychological consultation.

Bill Hay, Social Worker

Bill is a graduate of Michigan State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work. Bill has extensive experience as a case manager and representative payee working with individuals diagnosed with severe and persistent mental illness. Bill has also managed a crisis residential unit serving individuals experiencing acute psychiatric crisis. Bill has been a professional social worker since 1989.

Madison Fiebernitz

Madison has experience supporting individuals navigating complex personal and financial circumstances. Her professional experience is informed by suicide prevention and sexual violence response work, and she is knowledgeable in working with LGBTQ+ individuals. She is committed to providing inclusive, respectful, and accountable payee services as part of the team.

Christy Granger, LBSW

With a career defined by three decades of frontline service in the mental health field, Christy Granger brings an unparalleled depth of expertise to the role of Public Payee. As a Bachelor of Social Work with 30 years of comprehensive case management experience, Christy has dedicated her professional life to stabilizing the lives of individuals navigating the most complex intersections of mental illness and the legal system. Christy is focused on transforming the payee role into a therapeutic tool—one that provides support, trust and consistent stability every individual needs to focus on their recovery.
